Shannon is one of only four people in the world that holds certifications as both a Certified Master Groomer AND a Certified Kennel Operator!
Shannon Lynnes Heggem, CKO, NCMG, CMG began her grooming career when she was a child, starting her first salon, “The Clip-n-Comb” in her parents’ backyard. She returned to her Montana hometown after college, and used her business and marketing education to open an upscale pet care facility in 1992. It was one of the first of its kind in the nation!
After developing a complex curriculum over a seven-year period, she founded the Montana School of Professional Dog Grooming (now called FTI Pet Careers) in the late 90’s. She then opened the Australian Grooming School in 2010.
Throughout her life and career, Shannon has placed an emphasis on continuing education, attending grooming seminars and workshops whenever possible. She completed the dog grooming certification process through the International Professional Groomers, Inc. (IPG), to become the very first Certified Master Groomer® in the state of Montana! Shannon is not only committed to the grooming industry, but her roots are firmly planted in the boarding industry as well. Over the years, Shannon has successfully completed all of the Pet Care Services Association’s educational programs, and has earned the distinguished title of Certified Kennel Operator®. She is one of only four people in the world that holds both certifications as a Certified Master Groomer AND a Certified Kennel Operator!
Shannon is committed to furthering the pet industry, acting as a business and design consultant for pet-related businesses. She travels often, designing and consulting at pet care facilities. And, she also speaks professionally, presenting grooming and boarding educational seminars all over the world.
Because of her extensive industry experience, Shannon has contributed articles to numerous pet care and grooming websites and newspapers, as well as the most prestigious pet industry publications out there. These include the Pet Services Journal, Grooming Business Magazine, Pet Business Magazine, and the list goes on!
