Hands-on Grooming Courses/Externships
Many students mistakenly believe that the quality of a grooming course is based on the amount of hands-on training…not true! You can stand at a grooming table working on dogs for months on end; if you don’t understand what you are doing or why, then that particular “hands-on” experience has little value!
Our online earning grooming programs have been carefully written to provide students with solid, foundational knowledge. Both the Professional Grooming Program and the Future Grooming Salon Owner Program are designed to be all-inclusive: students who graduate from these programs have been presented with the most comprehensive, up-to-date grooming information available.
EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
What is an externship? It is basically monitored and carefully structured on-the-job training. Most students prefer to get their actual hands-on training at their future work location, which might be a local salon, animal shelter, rescue organization, etc. Doesn’t it make sense to get paid while gathering hands-on experience? We think so! So we designed a comprehensive externship program for our graduates to gain valuable hands-on experience in a step-by-step program.
This externship program is available in our Future Grooming Salon Owner Program. After completing this online course, we then carefuly coordinate the hands-on externship training program with the salon or facility of the student’s choice. We provide the student’s employer with a step-by-step plan of ongoing weekly tasks for the student to properly apply the knowledge and techniques learned in our online program. The student is able to hone their grooming skills and earn a living, at the same time!
HANDS-ON TRAINING:
For those who prefer to begin in a more controlled environment, we offer an intense two-week hands-on course on campus in Montana, and also on campus in Queensland, NSW, Australia. The cost for this incredible two-week program is just $2995. (Hands-on class applicants must have successfully completed either the Professional Grooming Program or the Future Grooming Salon Owner Program, and apply for consideration.)
We take a very limited amount of students for our hands-on program each year to ensure that our on-campus graduates receive a top-quality experience. This program is not for everyone: it is very fast-paced! But fun, too!
It is important to understand that just weeks of hands-on training will NOT make you a perfect groomer– that is not possible! However, this course will give you practical experience that will help you to get started in your career; it is a FAST TRACK course, designed to be short term and intense.
GROOMING EQUIPMENT:
We provide a very detailed list of recommended (but not required) grooming equipment within each online program. This list includes current prices, suppliers, etc. Students are not obligated to buy ANY equipment at any time; in fact, we even offer equipment rental in our hands-on course.
Obviously, a groomer must have equipment! Most grooming schools buy equipment at a lower cost, and “resell” to students in their equipment packages. We don’t think that’s cool… So, we’ve structured our grooming equipment recommendations into categories in different price ranges to meet the students current needs as well as future needs. And, since the students purchase directly from suppliers, they are able to buy more stuff! We think THAT’S cool!
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
We also accept students that have completed other correspondence courses that would like hands-on training, as well as existing groomers wanting more training. Please give us a call to discuss your needs. We can customize courses, too!
